I have EMS briefs that don't extend down the leg and wanted to try a different style. Both are excellent, but I did note the elastic seems to be more robust in the ex officio product. After that, it's a matter of style.

If you are going to spend $20+ for a pair of briefs, I recommend you give these a try.
I have also bought the similar EMS brand and think their wasteband isn't as good (it rolls over on me, and I don't have much of a beer gut at 165 lbs, 6'2").
