I got this as an alternative to a fork mount for a 29er so I don't have to carry the big wheel inside.
It works as advertised, though I'm not entirely convinced the bike is a stable as with a good fork mount. The 29er just fits.
The packaging is huge and the carrier takes up as much space as the cross rails and the two other bike rails I use when not on the roof.
It comes as a passenger side carrier and instructions on how to make it a driver side carrier - I didn't test how well it goes to the driver side.
The grabber is stiffer than I expected - which is good, but it might surprise you first use. Tightening the 'ratchet' seems to be a matter of brute force.

This rack is amazing! Its a little hard to use but once you get the hang of it its second nature and takes less time to pack up and get on the road. I'll be buying another ASAP.

I hate this rack. I got it because I thought it would be a secure and easy-to-use carrier for my mountain bike, and I didn't want a fork-mount rack. I wish I had just gotten another Big Mouth instead. Getting my bike on and off my car is a challenge, mostly because the arm is nearly impossible to operate with one hand. I have to balance the bike in the tray, then hope it doesn't fall on my head while I get the arm in position. I also can never seem to get it tight enough on the wheel to make me feel like the bike is 100% secure.

i had to get a sturdy bungee to hold down the front tire or it kept hopping out of the groove. no locks so i threw on a krypto cable and my u-lock. looks sweet on my new cx-5 and fit onto the OEM mazda rack just fine.

This is a nice tray. Don't trust the locks though! The locks are a small theft deterrent. They are too easily bypassed. Lock your high dollar bikes with a cable too. It would get 5 stars with better security.
