THULE 971XT Helium 3-Bike Rack
At nearly half the weight of a traditional carrier, the Thule Helium is an ultralight aluminum hitch rack for easier installation and removal of the rack.Features/Benefits:
- Ultralight aluminum construction for easy handling, installation, and removal
- No-tool installation—simply load into hitch and tighten receiver knob
- Narrow cradle arms hold a wider range of bike frames including smaller child frames
- T3 Cradles hold bikes in place for maximum frame protection and stability
- Patented No-Sway Cage prevents bike-to-bike contact
- Hitch Switch folds arms down when not in use and tilts carrier away from vehicle for trunk, hatch, or tailgate access
- Integrated locking cable and receiver lock knob secure bike to hitch rack and hitch rack to vehicle (locking cable stores conveniently in hitch rack)

We bought this to replace our older Thule 4 bike rack and can't believe how much easier it is to install on the car (Subaru Forester) and also to secure the bikes. We bought the 3-bike model for our 2 bikes because we read that the 2-bike model was cramped. We've only hauled 2 bikes on it so far, and it's worked very well. The bikes are quite secure, no wobble, on our 4 hour drive back and forth. I love the light weight and the "no tools" installation on to the hitch. Great product.

I have a Santa Cruz Nomad which is very difficult to put on the rack. A friends Specialized SX Trail is even more difficult to get on the rack. This rack is really only good for road bikes or standard geometry mt bikes. Otherwise, it is very easy to mount and has a great locking system.

Very easy install right into trailer hitch. Lockable so no worries about someone taking it. Bikes are very secure with cable lock included. Only con I've found is with a swinging rear door appose to a hatch type rear door the bike rack doesn't collapse away from the vehicle enough. It's tough to get thing into the back with it hooked up. Almost easier to take it off. Otherwise we love it holds our bikes easily.
