This rack allows you to easily mount the bike on the car in less time and more securely than any other trunk mount. I worry less about damage to the car and stability of the bike with this product. While it is heavier than other racks it is more protective and safer than other racks. Adjusts easily to different models of cars and includes instructions on how to adjust properly. No excess straps to affix or fly around. Reduces the time necessary to securely carry your bike on your car. Folds up on the car when bikes are removed and it can be locked on the car. This is a breakthrough product.

My experience with this rack leads to an overall rating of three stars. Four stars for the rack itself, with a one star reduction due to poor customer service from Thule.

Pro:
1. Solidly constructed
2. Fairly easy and quick to put on the trunk after the first "learning installation"
3. Stays solidly in place even at highway speeds

Cons:
1. The included locks are of minimal use:
a. The cable that comes out of the unit to lock the loaded bikes is very small in diameter and could easily be cut

b. The carrier lock (to lock the rack to the car) only locks the cables on the right-side of the rack. The rack can be easily removed from the car even when locked. (I was forced into doing this as the first time I used the rack, the carrier lock stuck in the locked position).

2. Thule customer service: I contacted Thule customer service via their web site and requested help on the stuck lock. The response was to ask for my shipping address and pictures of the rack, which were provided. Also included in the Thule response was a link to their website to order a lock or keys. No information was provided on how to remove the currently stuck lock. Submitting two additional requests for help did not garner a reply.

Kudos to Eastern Mountain Sports Customer Service and return policy, which will be used to get the rack fixed or replaced.

Note: To address the limited security of the rack itself, I bought a steel braided cable and a heavy duty padlock to loop around the rack, and through the bike frame and wheels to secure them to the car. The "lock point" on the car is a tow hook underneath the back bumper.

Switched from an overhead rack and love it. Easy on and off. Can do this inside my garage instead of out. Don't have to take my front wheel off or worry about mud on the car. Trunk opens when rack attached.
