At this price range I don't expect super floodlight performance, however The light is very bright I ride 21-24mi in the early mornings around a residential loop course in Orlando which does have some street light. I find this light provides enough light to see the road ahead and potholes and debris on the road. The light has a decent spill beam which when focused 15-20ft ahead lights up almost the width of the single lane. I run the light on high and cars definitely see me as they flash their high beams thinking that I have my brights on. I have the older 1/2watt light and there is no comparison in brightness the old one seems unregulated as it puts out a bluish tint whereas this one is white, I have compared the output on high against one of my LED Surefire 80 lumen flashlights and would say the light output is about the same and the spill beam diameter also. I use rechargable AA batteries in the light and get the advertised run time from the light on high. In summary I would buy the light again it works very well and have recommended it to other early morning cyclists.

Was looking for s solid, inexpensive light for rides that start pre-dawn or run into dusk/early evening. The Blaze 2w fits the bill perfectly.

It's not a bad deal at full price, but when it goes on sale or you have a coupon it's even sharper. So much so that I bought two of them, and depending on how long I'm going to be in the dark for a given ride I'll run them both.

Beam pattern running just one is fine, but by running two at a time you can point one close in and the other a little further out. With this approach you can get the brightness/coverage of a single light costing more than twice what you'll pay for two of these. Plus, using standard AA batteries means you don't need to worry about charge times if you decide to take a ride at the last minute and have a re-chargeable light that's not ready to go. (Assuming you have fresh AA's in the house... but who doesn't?)

I commute to and from work on very dark rural roads for 90% of my 5 mile trip. This light was an upgrade from the 1/2 watt headlight that served me well until I decided to upgrade. There may be better lights out there but quite frankly I cant imagine needing any more light than this puts out. I recommend this product with no worries.

I only have a bike for transportation and this light does a great job of letting drivers in cars know I'm there.For the price you can't beat it.The only concern that I have is the handle bar mount latch pops open if slightly bummed. Other then that it's a great product. I've used Planet Bike products before and they have always delivered on what the say the product will do.

The PLANET BIKE Blaze 2W does the job for me. Excellent for being seen or for seeing (headlight). I have used it as a headlight while road cycling in dark residential neigborhoods. I am happy with it after four weeks of use and have not needed to change batteries. The mount is no problem.

The light is great but isn't adjustable enough to fit a FSA handlebar on a Bianchi roadbike. Had to return it.
