Mammut is high quality. I own about 4 ropes from different brands but for multi-pitch these are the ones. The Swiss really have a way with rope, and 8.5 is the perfect width where they are manageable but not too heavy. There's a lot of conflicting information surrounding half rope strength however, these ropes have stood the test so far this season. It's easy to perform all the knots and you'll have most of the dexterity you'd get on a thick single rope.
Having two ropes opens up a lot of options and reduces drags plus you need a second rope for rapping on multi-pitch so why not climb with it instead of carrying it?
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
