Bought this as a reliable water filter for a 16 day trip seeing the sites in Europe. Was able to use in side pocket of backpack to stay hydrated in the hot summer months from public water drinking areas, etc. without worry rather than purchasing bottles of water - definitely got our money back as used one bottle for two people.
As read on other reviews, the water flow is slow and takes a while to quench that thirst if extremely thirsty. Definitely not for use as a single water filter for cooking, etc. Gently squeezing while drinking helps.
The technology is new enough that we ran into security problems at every single airport security check point wondering what we were hiding in the bottle, as well as inquiries about the carbon. Had to take apart the bottle and explain to a group of security guards. Be prepared to explain the product and be sure to put the bottle it's own bin when going through security.
Make sure to read the prep instructions carefully before assembling and flushing with water.

I used the MyBottle recently on a 3 day camping trip in the Adirondacks. I camped on an island on Lake Lila. The bottle was great as I could just fill it and drink from the lake while fishing/paddling. I didn't have to lug around a water supply. Judging from all the beaver evidence around, Giardia was surely in the water. I also took it on a hike up Mt. Frederica. There was rain the day before so water was plentiful all the way to the summit. No need to conserve water. There is a minor iodine taste to the water but not much. A small price to pay for potable water from any source! The picture is from where I ate my lunch on the summit of Mt. Frederica. Get out there and explore!!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
