Comments about GARMIN GPSMAP 62s:
I've been Geocaching for three years now and have used a combination of a Garmin Vista HCX plus a Garmin Nuvi 550 to be able to not only find the Geocache but be able to read the description, hints and logs placed by others that have found the cache. I waited until I found the right device that would allow me to do paperless Geocaching. To combine all these tasks and use only one unit. The Garmin 60s is that device, I'm totally satisfied with my purchase.

- EASY TO SEE SCREEN
- Geocaching
- Good battery life
- Good signal reception

Cons
- Lots of menus

Comments about GARMIN GPSMAP 62s:
The best price I found anywhere. Lots of options and menus for customizing different screens based on your usage. A bad thing when trying to set it up (default setting is best at first), but a good thing once you get it set to your liking and usage.

Comments about GARMIN GPSMAP 62s:
A very nice capability of this and similar Garmin units is the availability of free maps that can be downloaded into the devices with freely available software. There are many avid users taking readily available public products like topo maps and making them available for your use. I discovered this and added New England topo maps to my 62s all within a few hours of receiving my package. Garmin has made it very easy to share personal maps, treks and routes with others.

Comments about GARMIN GPSMAP 62s:
Switched to Garmin after having used competitors models, and have loved Garmin. Updated to the model 60Csx and absolutely LOVED it. When this one came out, had to get it, and liked it so much, got another one for my girlfriend. :)
Great accuracy, like the screen layouts, and the flexibility of the menus.
Love the increased memory, especially for Geocaching! Using GSAK and load the entire cache page with logs - can really cache paperless now!
Also like the chirp technology - nice addition!
I also bought the satellite subscription. While I do like the overlays - it does have limitations! You can't load large areas - for example - I think I've got something like an 8 X 10 mile square pieced from several downloads. Would be nice to be able to load the entire state, but this isn't THAT big a deal. I didn't subtract a star since this won't impact most users. Using the overlays DOES slow down the map display! Hopefully this will get fixed in a firmware update!
Only other downside is lack of WhereIGo capability - would be nice to have had that added in, but again, it's technically needed for a GPS.

Comments about GARMIN GPSMAP 62s:
This is my 3rd hand held GPS. By far this is an exceptional product. I establish waypoints around the parameter of large hunting areas and then wonder the woods confident I can return to any pre set waypoint. I installed the TOPO U.S. 24K maps. The detail is outstanding. Being abel to move the cursor to any point and measure distance is very helpful for safe exploration. I couldn't believe how handy the POI capability is. Moving the cursor along a street identifies specific addresses. In one small package you get everything you need for GPS functionality.
