Comments about MOUNTAIN HARDWEAR Men's Epic Jacket:
I really love Mountain Hardwear gear. It can be pricey, but it has always been well made. I compare this jacket to Bean's similar model and it more than holds its own. The orange was mainly purchased for visibility, as I am in a club that hikes even in upstate NY's hunting season. It will allow me to layer. I always have a concern about the waterproof liner as I have seen many split on the shoulders (shoulder strap damage from backpacks?)and crack. So far no issues here, but I will probably baby it.

Comments about MOUNTAIN HARDWEAR Men's Epic Jacket:
Got a size XL and it fit my 5'10" frame well. Has performed well in light rain running errands around town. Comparable to the columbia waterproof jacket I owned prior but at a better price.

This jacket fits well and looks nice. I got this 50% off through EMS, so I couldn't pass on the opportunity. I haven't had a torrential downpour to test it in yet, but I think it will do well.

Comments about MOUNTAIN HARDWEAR Men's Epic Jacket:
I bought this jacket to replace a very old thunderhead jacket that had lost it's waterproofing. I first placed the jacket under the faucet & ran the water & let it run off the jacket, amazing. The next test was a hike upstate New York. The rain bounced right off. I love the easy zipper & the full hood.

Comments about MOUNTAIN HARDWEAR Men's Epic Jacket:
i ordered it on sale for a great price. it came in 2 days. have not been in a real rain storm yet but have been a light rain and felt 0 moisture and could see the rain just beading on the surface. took it to the beach were it was 45 degrees and blowing bout 20 mph. i wore it over a fleece jacket which i have worn before i purchased this jacket and would freeze. i was very happy that it stopped the wind from entering.

Comments about MOUNTAIN HARDWEAR Men's Epic Jacket:
We wanted a basic rain jacket. My son liked the basic navy color and the built-in hood. But this was the runner-up, largely because the North Face version of this included a built-in collar which made it better fitting in case the hood was rolled up, and more snug/waterproof when the hood was in use.
This was a trimmer cut than the North Face which means it would fit better over just a T-shirt, but have less room for layers.
One plus this had over the North face: the pockets were regular pockets, meaning they were not just the outside of the inner mesh lining. He really liked those but they weren't enough to offset the more comfortable neckline/collar and flexible size/fit.
Pros
- Affordable Price
- Great quality
- Truely water proof
- True to Fit
Cons
Best Uses
- Anything in the rain
Comments about MOUNTAIN HARDWEAR Men's Epic Jacket:
This is a great rain jacket from Mountain Hard Wear... Don't let the low price make you think they skimped on quality. This will keep you dry as much as their most expensive rain jacket.
Comments about MOUNTAIN HARDWEAR Men's Epic Jacket:
It works well in the rain and fog.
