Comments about OUTDOOR RESEARCH Sentinel Brim Hat:
*Unfortunately*, I was not blessed with a lush head of hair - so keeping my shaved dome covered in the summer months is essential. *Fortunately*, OR's Sentinel Brim hat does a great job doing just that! In the months since I've had it, I've worn it on multiple hikes, for several rounds of golf, and even while tailgating 6 hours in a stadium parking lot. Each time, the hat has been comfortable, while serving its main purpose as a protective piece against UVs and mosquitoes.
What's keeping me from giving this 5 stars is the chin cord. It's rather flimsy material (like flat laces on tennis shoes) that gets stuck in the rubber that enables it to function as a drawcord. Fighting with this has resulted in my pulling threads out of the cord. Sure, its certainly not a deal breaker, but it is enough to keep it from perfection!
Ultimately, this hat gets the job done, contributes some moderate style points, at a price that yields a solid value.

Comments about OUTDOOR RESEARCH Sentinel Brim Hat:
Does just what I wanted it to do. Light, comfortable, vented, has sunblock, repels insects. Used it on a 21 mile hike and it worked well to keep the sun and black flies away from my head and face. Still had to use some repellent though, but hey, the black flies in New England will carry you away! Water repellent, but not waterproof.

Really like this. Took it out fly fishing. No problems with the bugs, and caught some fish. Great fit, very comfortable.
