Comments about Ascension BLACK DIAMOND Titan Lantern:
This is a great camp lantern which lasts many hours due to the 4 D batteries. These heavy batteries give the lantern its lit longevity but they also make for a heavy lantern--this is not a backpacker's lantern.
The only drawback is that the one I got has a serious whining sound when you dim it. Black Diamond warranty department said I could return to them or to the store (since I just purchased it), either way they would stand behind their product.
Pros
- Sturdy
Cons
- Not Bright Enough
Best Uses
- Car Camping
Comments about Ascension BLACK DIAMOND Titan Lantern:
I bought the two lanterns that had the highest lumens ratings and compared them. They were the Black Diamond Titan and the Revere 30-Day. I expected the Titan to be better because I own a Black Diamond Orbit lantern that I sometimes bring backpacking and I like it. However, I compared the two in a blackened room and the Revere was brighter. Weight was not a factor because you will not take this kind of lantern backpacking. The Titan seems perhaps a bit sturdier, but not enough to make a difference. I really wanted the brightest lantern I could find.

Comments about Ascension BLACK DIAMOND Titan Lantern:
Purchased after Hurricane Sandy to keep on hand as a room light for kitchen or den; purchased several smaller (and less expensive) UCO lanterns for the bedrooms
Pros
- Adjustable lighting
- Alternative To Lpgas Lamp
- Bright
- Energy Efficient Led
Cons
- D Batteries
- Noisy at low light
- Relatively heavy
Best Uses
- Car Camping Base Camp
- Home Power Failure
Comments about Ascension BLACK DIAMOND Titan Lantern:
I found the lamp to be very bright and it will be part of my contingency plan for blackouts here in the northeast US. I like that the light is adjustable but it gives a bit of a high pitched whistle when used on low power which some might find irritating. I'll probably only use it on high power (no noise) and use some of the smaller Black Diamond lanterns which I own for areas which don't need the lumen level that this big lamp provides. I have not found that the smaller lanterns make any noise at all.
Pros
- Battery life is good
- Easy to use
- Good light output
- Nice Sale Price
Cons
- Brown Color Only
Best Uses
- Around the house
- Boating
- Camping
- Power Outages

The quality shines through. Although most vampires don't like light, I love this lantern. Everything about it speaks quality.
