Bought a pair of these shoes to act as a "disposable shoe" for a Warrior Dash. Shoes came through just fine - after a spin through the washer, these shoes did a 5K and a half marathon, a week on some pretty tough trails in Yosemite and more.
Best use is definitely on trails, but they can handle roads just fine. If you're not such an athlete (like me) that you want one set of shoes for road running, another for trail running and another for hiking, these will do the job.
