Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Erratic Daypack:
When the backpack is full, the back of the pack (the surface closest to your back) takes on a convex bend. Thus it only contacts your back along your spine, instead of spreading the pressure evenly. It is uncomfortable, and is a function of the material the pack is made of, rather than how the pack is loaded.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Erratic Daypack:
Now that I am in college I decided it was time to get serious about studying. This is why I bought a nice and sturdy back pack. I really like this bag. I've taken it hiking (nothing too extreme, just a small mountain) and it's been great. Mostly I use this bag for school and it's fantastic. I am able to stuff my laptop, notebooks, and 2 textbooks in it (I don't recommend this though because the seams on my backpack are beginning to break and I just got it a 4 months ago). The straps are nice and comfortable as well even if you are carrying a heavy load.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Erratic Daypack:
I take the yellow Erratic pack with me on my bike commute every day. I only commute a couple miles and this pack is all I need. I had a bigger LL Bean backpack before and it was just too bulky (ie, swinging when pedaling hard, serious wind resistance).
Pro: The Erratic is a nice, smaller, sleeker bag than most standard backpacks.
Con: Sometimes it's a little too small and it's not very wide. Not a huge con--just kinda comes with the territory. I would be hesitant to pack this for any serious camping but a daytrip should be fine.
Pro: It has plenty of straps and places to put things.
Con: Most of the straps are too long and I have to tie them up in the bag so they don't dangle and fly around while I bike. However it looks like you may be able to stick a tent/tight sleeping bag in the straps under the pack, so not a huge negative if you're using it as a light camping bag.
The bag seems to be of good quality and well designed. One slightly annoying thing has been that the overlap that covers the zipper to keep water from getting in is pretty stiff and often prohibits the zippers from closing easily. The compression straps on the side also get in the way sometimes but being able to squish your stuff down balances it out a bit if you ask me.
I got this bag on sale through EMS Clearance and it's definitely worth a reduced price.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Erratic Daypack:
The Erratic Daypack is a good everyday bag. I use it for school and work primarily, but would travel with it as a carry on, etc. The bag fits items nicely and the zippers and seams seem to be of good quality. I've only owned it for about a month now, but so far so good. The pockets on the sides are a bit tight and can be used for smaller items.
My biggest complaint about the bag is the inability to remove some of the straps. I immediately removed the waist strap, however, there are the straps on the bottom and the sides around the main compartment that serve me absolutely no purpose and I'd like to find a way to remove them without resorting to cutting them.
All in all, a good bag, could use some minor refinements for my purpose, however, many others would probably find those items exceptionally useful.

Large Backpack, perfect to use for both school work and hiking. One thing that could be changed is the dangly straps.
