Comments about THULE 528 Sprint Fork Mount Bike Carrier:
This fork mount bike carrier was a recent purchase so I have used it only a couple of times, but am impressed with it to date. The carrier has a streamline appearance and the rear section of the tray assembly that supports rear wheel telescopes. To some this may seem like a small benefit, but not so on my Toyota Prius. As the rear bar on my rack is at a slight angle, and both bars are mounted to vehicle exactly as specified by Thule, I purchased the Sprint 528 as opposed to the Sprint T-Track 569. On the Sprint 569, the link assembly simply slides onto the track in the Thule Aeroblade bars. However, due to slight rear bar angle, I needed the steel (rubber coated) mounting straps as they solved the problem. There is no need to guess as to appropriate tightness of the head assembly to the bike's fork as there is a clicking sound when fork is propery secured. The one gripe I do have is the failure of Thule to provide a credit for the purchase of lock cylinders with a bike carrier as costly as the Sprint 528. I understand why the locks would not be provided with carrier as owners might wish to match lock cylinders with roof rack locks. You are able to lock bike fork to carrier and lock carrier to roof rack by use of two lock cylinders. You are also able to install a third lock cylinder for further theft deterrence. I do not know why this carrier, which was advertized as new in 2013, was not released to market until early 2014, but so far I am most pleased with its performance.
