The AvaLung 2 is a simple filtration system contained in a lightweight harness that may allow a person buried in the snow to extract air directly from the snowpack. It functions as an artificial air pocket through which air is taken directly from the surrounding snow pack. The air is directed to the user's mouthpiece via respiratory tubing. The exhaled air is redirected to a different part of the snowpack to minimize CO2 contamination and moisture buildup leading to icing.
