The Race was introduced in 2004 to comply with the new, smaller U.S. Snowshoe Association standard of 120in2minimum surface area. . At the request of a number of nationally ranked women athletes, we are introducing a Women’s version of our Race models. It is structurally identical to the standard Race, but with a more attractive color scheme. Serious racers who understand the need for the lightest snowshoe choose Northern Lites Race for most of today’s courses. However, we’ve been pleased to see that when the snow is deeper or softer, these same racers turn to our Elite models, which are still lighter than many other racing snowshoes.
